Note that this article is not from a right-wing website. It is an article in the Christian Science Monitor, and it is written by a political scientist who seems to know what she is talking about. The whole situation is bizarre. Obama has pretty clearly established that he was not brought up as a Muslim, nor has he ever practiced Islam. But now it seems that, to some in the Muslim world, that makes him an apostate because he is (in their eyes) a Muslim by birth anyway, so they think he is obligated to practice that faith. And the author of this piece says they will use this claim against him in the Muslim world to undermine his efforts to bridge the gap between our cultures.
