How Russia observes a cease fire

Russian convoy rolls through Gori, violating truce - Los Angeles Times: "GORI, Georgia -- Russian tanks and armored units rolled through this key Georgian city today hours after its leaders accepted a peace deal in which Moscow would pull its troops back to positions before hostilities between the country began over the disputed breakaway region of South Ossetia six days ago."

I wonder what percentage of the US population even remembers the Cold War. And fewer recall how the USSR conducted itself within the confines of its empire. There are good reasons why all those former satellite nations and republics became independent.
