REVENGE IS SWEET FOR 'BETRAYED' PASTOR - New York Post

REV-ENGE IS SWEET FOR 'BETRAYED' PASTOR - New York Post
Here is an interesting take on the Obama-Wright soap opera. This journalist has a source in Chicago who says Wright is mad that, despite their 20 year close relationship, Obama repeatedly dissed him when he ran for president. Obama wouldn't let him on stage when he declared for president, then pretended he didn't know what Wright had to say about politics, and after the tapes came out "distanced himself" from Wright. So, says the source, Wright is actually hurting Obama's campaign quite knowingly because feels "betrayed."

Who knows?

I remember hearing that Rev. Wright told Obama that if he did ever run for president he'd have to distance himself from him. I'm positive that he said that, but even if he didn't he had to know that this was going to happen, right? I mean, what does he stand to gain from continuing to press this issue aside from more fame and more press? I always thought this guy was a true-believer of his own theories, but now I wonder if he isn't just a charlatan like Pat Robertson manipulating public trust to sell books.

I have no idea what to think anymore.

I think Wright is genuinely angry at Obama right now. And I think Wright is hurting Obama badly, and knows he is doing it. Whether that is explained by his anger or some mercenary or power motive I can't say. But Obama's main appeal a few months ago was the promise of transcending racial division. That is exactly what has now been undermined, courtesy of the infinitely divisive Reverend Wright. Here's the problem: how can Obama claim to be a racial healer given his long and close relationship with somebody he had to know was a racial bomb-thrower?
